Stitches in time
Record humanity
Stitches out of love
Express diversity

Stitch together quilts
Or maybe needlework
It doesn’t really matter
For, priceless is their worth

Burning midnight oil
Nimble fingers quick
Masterful with needles
All night the stitcher sits

Maybe for a babe
A daughter, son or Mom
Or the golden anniversary
Of Grandma and Grandpa

Any fabric welcome
All is so unique
Stitches that are intricate
Eyes glistening shall see

Beauty in the stillness
Silently they talk
We cover up in history
Or hang them on the walls

They bear witness to our joy
Speak of hard times that were had
Some beat up, broken, tattered
Yet the beauty ever lasts.

Ninepatch, bowties, wedding rings
All patterns, each are treasured
Records the precious memories
Our families spend together

Masterful expression
The stitches truly prove
With patience, love, and effort
The beauty we can do

Whether simply tied or fancy
In every shape and size
Appreciate and gaze upon
Stitches in time
